Who We Are

A Connection Built on Something Real

Marin Care Connections was built by someone who has sat on both sides of this work — as a caregiver who walked into strangers' homes during their most vulnerable hours, and as a professional who watched families struggle to find trustworthy support through agencies that prioritized process over people.

We are a licensed Domestic Referral Agency operating under California Civil Code § 1812.5095. Our role is to find, verify, and connect — then step back and let the human relationship between caregiver and family become exactly what it should be.

Novato-based, Marin County-focused, Bay Area available.

Our Model

Independent caregivers. Agency-negotiated rates. Your peace of mind.

Our Standard

Our Origin

Built from the Inside of This Work

Marin Care Connections was not built in a boardroom. It was built by someone who clocked into strangers' homes in the middle of the night, sat beside people in their most fragile moments, and understood — viscerally — what it means for a family to place their trust in a caregiver they barely know.

That experience drives every policy we write, every caregiver we verify, and every conversation we have with a family calling us in a moment of real need. We know this work from the ground up — and that is something no franchise or corporate chain can replicate.

We are Marin County. We know these streets, these families, and the standard they rightfully expect. We built this agency to meet it — every single time.

What Marin Families Say

★★★★★
"

They connected us with a caregiver who understood my mother's rhythm before the first week was over. The process was clear, the pricing made sense, and for the first time in months I slept through the night knowing she was safe.

"

My father was discharged from MarinHealth on a Thursday afternoon. By Friday morning, a verified, kind, experienced caregiver was in his home. I don't know how they moved that fast — but I will never forget it.

★★★★★
"

Other agencies felt like they were selling us something. This felt like someone who actually understood what we were going through. The caregiver they referred has become part of our family's story — and that is not something you manufacture.

Questions & Answers

What Families Ask

What exactly is a Domestic Referral Agency? +
A Domestic Referral Agency is a licensed matchmaker — we identify, verify, and connect independent caregivers with families seeking home care. We are not the employer of any caregiver we refer. This model, governed by California Civil Code § 1812.5095, gives families direct access to qualified professionals while caregivers retain full independence.
Who handles the pricing? +
We do. Agency negotiates the service fee directly with you and presents a complete, transparent quote before any caregiver is confirmed. Our referral fee — never more than 35% of the total — is already included. You will always know exactly what you are paying before care begins. You never negotiate with the caregiver directly.
Who is the caregiver's legal employer? +
The referred caregiver is an independent contractor and is self-employed. Marin Care Connections is not their employer. Depending on the degree of direction you exercise over their work, you as a client household may have certain employer obligations under California and federal law. We strongly recommend consulting a tax professional.
What does your 8-step verification include? +
California HCA Registry verification through CDSS, DOJ/FBI Live Scan clearance, TB test results (within 24 months), personal liability insurance confirmation ($1M–$6M), government ID review, work authorization check, two professional reference verifications, and a signed Referral Agreement. Every step, every caregiver, every time.
Can we keep the same caregiver consistently? +
Absolutely — and we encourage it, especially for memory care and long-term placements where consistency is not just comfort, it is a clinical necessity. Once a match works, we do everything in our power to maintain that relationship for as long as it serves your family.
Do your caregivers provide medical care? +
No. All referrals through Marin Care Connections are strictly non-medical domestic services — personal care, companion care, light household management, meal preparation, medication reminders, and transportation. For skilled nursing or medical treatment, a licensed Home Care Organization or medical professional is required.
How quickly can you place someone? +
In most cases, 24–48 hours from a completed intake request. For urgent hospital discharge situations or same-day needs, call us directly at (415) 326-3507. We move as fast as the situation demands — because the moments that require speed are usually the moments that matter most.
Which areas of Marin do you serve? +
All of Marin County — Novato, San Rafael, Mill Valley, Sausalito, Tiburon, Belvedere, Corte Madera, Larkspur, Ross, San Anselmo, and Fairfax. We also maintain caregivers available in parts of Sonoma County and the East Bay when needed.

"Every family deserves a caregiver they can trust completely."
